                                                          Orange Colour Day

                                                  ‘Orange is fun, dynamic and radiates warmth’.

The students of Pre-Primary celebrated ‘Orange Day’ at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sec 102A, Gurugram on 28^th September 2018 with a sole objective to acquaint the little ones with the concept of orange colour and objects related to it. Class rooms’ wall were decorated with orange bunny masks, various orange posters and objects which depicted clearly orange colour.The children were exposed to a series of creative activities to help them understand the positive impact of orange colour. Students bloomed and blossomed in different shades of orange colour created an aura around. The aim of the various activities and fun games was to make the young ones identify orange colour and relate it with the objects they watch around them every day.

                                                                       Etiquette Workshop

                                                ‘The key to lifelong manners is to start young’.

A child who masters etiquettes during the budding age will always get noticed for all the right reasons. DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102 A, Gurugram conducted workshops for Pre-primary to grade 3 students from 20th September – 27th September 2018 in their respective classes. Our trained educators practically presented various etiquettes to be followed at several places. The pre-primary group learned how to use golden words like ‘Please, Sorry & Thank You’, how to intervene in between when two people are talking and correct way of sitting & eating food at the dining place. Meals are a common part of both the job search process and working with clients in the business world. Students of grade 2 & 3 learned practically valuable tips to keep in mind when dining at any place. The workshop practiced the highest standards of etiquettes. Students were engaged with numerous activities, role play and debrief to get the grasp of etiquettes thoroughly. Students were very glad to learn regarding the topic which is most beneficial for them during their day to day routine life.

                                                         Felicitation Ceremony-Pre primary

                                          ‘The one who feels appreciated will always do more’.

Getting an award is the most memorable experience which students remember for their entire lifetime. To motivate the performance of our pre-primary talented students, the Felicitation Ceremony was held for Recitation competition for grade Pre-Nursery, Nursery and ‘Shrutlekh’ competition for KG on 26^th September 18 at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sec102A, Gurugram. Winners were awarded by the school Principal for their excellent performance in respective competitions. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

                                              PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

Our personality is everything as it determines our likes & dislikes, self-confidence, communication style, and how we relate to other people. DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102 A, Gurugram conducted a ‘Personality Development’ workshop on 20^th September 2018 for students of grade 4 and 5. Team Fortis made students aware regarding the characteristic of four types of personalities – Aggressive, Doormat, Sniper and Assertive through role play. Student’s answered questions related to body postures and its importance. Fortis Expressive Art Therapist ,Ms. Aleena, shared the dos and don’ts to develop as an assertive person and how assertive people can face various challenges in life confidently. A thank you card and a planter were gifted at the end by our students to express their gratitude.

                                             FELICITATION CEREMONY

               ‘The harder you work for something, the greater you will feel when you achieve it’. 

The speciality of dance is to express our self, using body instead of words. Dance competition held in school educated us on the symbolic representation and various culture stories conveyed through Indian Folk dance. A felicitation ceremony was conducted in DPS, Expressway, Sec 102 A, Gurugram on 18^th September, 2018 to appreciate our extraordinary dancers for their ravishing dance performances. Winners were awarded by the school Principal for their hard work and talent. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

                                            WORKSHOP-THEMATIC APPROACH

                                              ‘We learn to do something by doing it’.

A workshop on ‘Thematic Approach’ was organized by RPS International School, Gurugram, on 15^th September, 2018. The main objective of the workshop was to familiarize the teachers with emerging ideas and views on the Thematic Approach in kindergarten. Resource person, Ms.Veena Raizada, explained how to connect with the interest level of students and how to make the classroom a leaning area as learner-centric rather than teacher-centric. We learned that the basic knowledge of the thematic approach is to organize a subject matter around unifying themes. The workshop ended by the distribution of certificates to all teachers.

                                 LORD GANESHA ECO FRIENDLY VISRAJAN

                             ‘Ganesha says that the mantra for peace is to go natural’. 

Delhi Public School, Dwarka Expressway,Sector 102 A, Gurugram once again echoed with the chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya, agle baras tu jaldi aa’, requesting Lord Ganesha to grace the institution with his presence yet again next year. The morning ritual included offering of prayers by the school Principal, Head Mistress, students and all staff members. The eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesha was then taken around the entire school premises with spectacular pomp and joy. The idol was carried to the school ground where everyone had gathered for the immersion. In view of the environmental concern, the clay idol of Ganpatiji was then immersed in a bucket of water, which was later used to water the plants. This signified the return of Lord Ganesha to his heavenly abode.  ‘Prasad’ was then distributed among all present there.

                                                              OZONE DAY ACTIVITY

              ‘Go Green, Go Genius, Stamp the Carbon, Stand Tall and Stich the Ozone layer’.          

United Nations General Assembly observes 16^th September as the International Day for the preservation of the Ozone layer. In order to create awareness and sensitize growing students, Delhi Public School, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, conducted a session on 14^th September 2018 regarding the depletion of ozone layer. To gain knowledge through experience, students were involved in various activities. They enjoyed the ozone game where few students enacted as the Ozone layer & Sun and learnt to protect the earth from UV rays. The educators explained the same with an experiment using flashlight along with the plain sheet & sheet with the hole to feel the repercussions of Ozone layer hole followed by a quiz to recapitulate the day's learning. Students also watched a video and sang an ozone protection song which helped them to appreciate the importance of the ozone layer in the atmosphere. Hope this mission is successful and we all live a long and healthy life on our planet.

                                                      GANESHA CHATURTHI CELEBRATION

Ganesha is deemed as the lord of auspicious beginnings, prosperity and get rid of obstacles. Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav birthday of Lord Ganesha was celebrated with great splendour and vigour on 13^th September 2018 at DPS Dwarka, Expressway, Sector 102 A, Gurugram. We are sincerely concerned for fast degrading environment caused by air and water pollution in day to day life. We made an eco- friendly idol of Lord Ganesha with nontoxic clay without any chemical colours to sensitize the next generation. Lord Ganesha who is considered to be ‘Vighana Harta’ (the one who removes obstacles) and ‘Buddhi Pradaayaka’ (the one who grants intelligence) was brought to the school premises midst reverberating chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’. The idol was then placed on a vibrantly decorated platform, with ‘mridangam’- his favourite instrument all around. After the Puja ceremony our little creative geniuses of grade 1 to 3 used bright hues to colour the idol of the one who bestows prosperity. Our kindergarten students used their creative skills and made Lord Ganesha with theromocol glasses. Students of classes 4 to 7 got indulged in ‘laddoo making activity’ where in they prepared one of Lord Ganesha’s favourite things ‘laddoo’. The Dipsites completely enjoyed the activity and offered self-made laddoos as ‘prasad’ to the one who illuminates. The celebration brought the entire school together and proved to be a way to bond with each other

                                                       Grandparents’ Day Celebration

                           ‘Grandparents are someone with silver hair with a golden heart.’

Grandparents play an important role in the learning of every child. The indulging that grandkids get from their grandparents leave a lifelong impression on their lives. To give the grandparents a tribute of love and respect, students of DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram celebrated Grand Parents’ Day on 10^th September 2018. Students of Pre Primary brought heart touching collages of their beloved grandparents and spoke a few lines about them. They shared beautiful memories regarding the good time spent with their grandparents.  Each classroom witnessed a mix of craft activities for the grandparents and sharing of moral values. It was a great day for learning, sharing good things, giving respect and recognizing grandparents’ value to the society.

                          Workshop at DPS, Dwarka: Discover the Undiscovered

Ms. Bindu Chahal, Science educator from DPS Dwarka Expressway, Sec 102A, Gurugram attended a 3 day Science workshop from 5^th to 7^th September 2018 at HRD centre DPS Dwarka, Delhi. The workshop started with the awareness session regarding the journey of DPS schools. Dr. Gagan Gupta (Associate professor), NCERT explained how to teach science by connecting with daily life experiences. Team DPS Rohini conducted a session on how to explain various physics experiments in an easy manner. Dr. Anupam Jagga, Principal, DPS Bulandshahr described about various skills to be developed in students for future ready individuals. Team DPS Noida explained various experiments related to acids and bases. Team Anveshika created awareness about learning by doing for effective implementation of chapters. Ms. Vibha Singh, Principal of DPS Rohini took a session on developing the habit of reading beyond the textbook. The Programme ended with a valedictory session by Prof. Dinesh Kumar.

Keeping this in mind and to honour the admirable performance of our tender tots of pre-primary, the Felicitation Ceremony was held during the special assembly on 5^th September 2018 at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sec 102 A, Gurugram. Winners were awarded the certificates of excellence for their best performance in Rhyme Recitation, Story Narration and Rakhi making Competition. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

                                 TEACHERS DAY & SANSKRIT DAY CELEBRATION

                              ‘A Teacher Takes a Hand, Opens a Mind and Touches a Heart’.

The teacher is indeed the primordial omnipotent God in our world. Teacher's Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and the second President of India. Students of DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram exhibited their gratitude by creating beautiful gifts for the teachers. Students of grade 1 to 7 chanted Sanskrit shlokas to celebrate Sanskrit Day and the class educators created awareness regarding the Sanskrit Language. Grade 1 to 3 brought a smile through their heart touching cards, grade 4 & 5 created dazzling rings in school and presented to complete staff and grade 6 & 7 created handbag from an old T-shirt as an adorable gift for their educators. They also went to junior classes for interactions and to make their educators feel special. Pre Nur- Kg students enjoyed craft activities and passionately sang lovely poems for their educators which touched them emotionally at heart. The school Principal presented the beautiful gift to all staff members as a token of love. Teachers relished a movie after school hours which turned out to be a great recreational activity for them.
