                                           Sanskrit Language Communication Workshop ‘Vak-Bhushanam’

“The Sanskrit language, whatever be its antiquity is of wonderful structure, more perfect than the Greek, more copious than the Latin and more exquisitely refined than either.”

 

Delhi Public School Society conducted a workshop ‘Vak-Bhushanam’ at HRDC, Lodhi Road  on 28th June-29th June, 2018. Sri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society was the chief guest in the workshop. Prof. B.P. Khandelwal member DPS society, Prof Chand Kiran Saluja, Ms. Vinita Kher, Mr. Harish Sachdeva were the guest of honor. Program got started by the lighting of lamp by the chief guest. After that Prof B.P. Khandelwal conveyed his thoughts regarding the importance of Sanskrit language in world. He shared the need to deliver the Sanskrit session in Sanskrit only for better usage and understanding of Sanskrit language in class. He threw light on the Sanskrit language as the essence of life. Later we were guided by Dr. Chand Kiran Saluja regarding the various activities to be referred from NCF to teach Sanskrit in an interesting way. To explain this in a better way we were made to take part in the activity to learn practically that how to deliver interesting Sanskrit language session. Dr. Apurba Sharma and Dr. Raman Mishra shared the religious and moral values of Sanskrit language.

Second day of the workshop emphasized on the new techniques to make Sanskrit language learning easy and interesting. To learn this practically teachers were divided into groups and each group was given a task to prepare and deliver a lesson plan to teach Sanskrit in an interesting and effective way. Dr. Pratibha Pandey closed the workshop by expressing her valuable thoughts on the importance of Sanskrit language and how school has a huge responsibility to create more awareness regarding the importance of Sanskrit language.

                                                      21ST CENTURY PEDAGOGY SKILLS

    With the aim to equip all our educators with 21st Century teaching skills, the school Head Mistress Ms. Sumita Gupta conducted an enlightening and invigorating workshop on ‘Pedagogies for the 21st Century Educators’ on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26th and June 27th  2018 at at DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram.

    The informative session gave a deep insight into the new model of learning for the 21st Century that will enable innovative forms of learning that are needed to tackle complex global challenges. It was unanimously recognized that the ‘transmission’ or lecture model is highly ineffective for teaching

    twenty-first century competencies and skills. The workshop helped the educators come to an agreement that learners need skills such as critical thinking and the ability to communicate effectively, innovate, and solve problems through negotiation and collaboration for holistic development.

     

    Various pedagogies like: Personalised and Customized Learning, Project and Problem Based Learning, Collaborative and Communicative Learning, Engagement and Motivational Learning, Creative and Innovative Learning,  Inter Disciplinary Learning, Technology based Learning, Learning from Real World Problems, Metacognitive Learning, Learning Without Borders, Research Based Learning and Flipped Learning , that would offer learners the best opportunities to acquire competencies and skills needed to successfully navigate through complex challenges, were discussed in detail.  

     

    Ms. Sumita Gupta stressed that educators have an extended role as mentors, mediators, facilitators, learning coordinators, assessors, and designers and compilers of learning tools. She encouraged her team to personalize and customize to reflect students’ individual needs and interests. She motivated the educators make their classrooms more open to diverse learning experiences.

     

    The session completely supported the emergence of lifelong learning as the paradigm for the future.

                                                                      Teach Next Smart Board Workshop

                                                        “Technology will not replace great teachers however

      The concept of smart class education is indeed a blessing to the students of the 21st Century.  Smart classes use all interactive modules like videos and presentations, these audio-visual attractive methods of teaching becomes appealing to students who are struggle with the traditional method of teaching in a classroom. It has the advantage of utilizing much of the time to show pictures and diagrams directly instead of drawing or preparing diagrams on board. Smart boards have all the information in memory and can be presented during the time of class lectures and thus, the time saved can be utilized to inculcate better skills in school. The use of smart classes and modern technology can be successful only when all the tools are used according to the various needs of students in class.

      To make our educators aware about various tools in Teach Next smart boards a workshop was organized at DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram on 26th June, 2018. Different types of tools which makes learning easier and interesting for students were discussed in detail. Trainers from “TeachNext” facilitated this workshop in which they explained usage of NextStudio, Next Tools, Next Dictionary etc. Teachers verified their queries and they were explained to them on the spot practically. This workshop will certainly prove very helpful and fruitful for teachers as well as learners.
