                                                   WORKSHOP: GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH

‘Safety starts with awareness, Awareness starts with you.’

As a leading institution, it’s our prerogative to ensure our students’ safety and sensitize them how to stay safe. Taking a step towards this endeavor, the school organized an interactive and educative workshop for grade I-V on the sensitive and important topic ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’. The guest speakers Ms. Anshika, Ms. Poornima and Ms. Bimla quickly grasped students’ attention with some attention grabbers and games like ‘Goat and Dragon’. The resource person advised to use 3 way techniques to fight with any stranger who gives them a ‘Bad touch’ on the specified sensitive parts of their body and emphasized that the children must share ‘Bad Secrets’ with their parents. Few moves using elbows, fists and knees were also demonstrated to defend themselves in emergency. They stressed that we should preserve and keep our body safe as it is a gift from God. Students were also provided a worksheet with interesting activities like My Body Guard, My Safe Circle etc. The workshop culminated with a question-answer round where students’ queries were answered.

                                   PURPLE DAY

‘Purple enhances creativity, clears the mind and calms stress.’

Purple is the highest colour in the visible spectrum and associated with royalty, nobility wisdom and dignity. It portrays dedication and is also known as one of the ‘cool’ colours. To make the students aware and to introduce the concept of purple colour, DPS celebrated Purple Day on 24th November in school premises. The budding stars of Kindergarten came dressed up in their royal purple colour attires and enjoyed a range of activities like drawing and painting of objects, craft activities, hunting feather and many other engagements. Teachers and students looked commendable in their purple apparels and gave a feeling of aristocracy. This day provided our tiny tots an opportunity to identify various items associated with the colour and the entire experience strengthened their learning in an amusing manner.

ARTISTIC YOGA SESSION BY GUINNESS WORLD RECORD HOLDER, MR. YOGARAJ CP

‘Yoga is the art work of awareness on the canvas of body, mind and soul.’

With this perspective of exposing students to the benefits of yoga, DPS organised an ‘Artistic Yoga’ session which was conducted by a renowned personality, Mr. Yogaraj CP, Guinness World Record Holder, honoured by the title of ‘The Yoga Guru of City University of Hong Kong’. Artistic Yoga is a style of modern yoga which includes performing yoga asanas in a dancing style. It is a series of movements which not only helps to stretch and strengthen our body but also increases concentration power, memory and develop creative thinking.

The session started with ‘Yoga Prayer’ followed by an amazing ‘Artistic Yoga Presentation’ by Dipsonians which left a remarkable impact on everyone. Students were also benefitted while witnessing an outstanding performance by The Yoga Guru in which balance, concentration and strength could be easily seen. The highlight of the day was a duo presentation of Mr. Yogaraj and Ms. Moonmoon, Dance & Yoga teacher at DPS which made the audience mesmerised giving a perfect example of trust and coordination.

                                                      CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

‘Children are our most valuable assets – the future citizens of tomorrow.’

The Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Sector 102A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram celebrated Children’s Day with great splendor and grandeur on Wednesday, 15th November, 2017.The teachers conducted a special assembly where in they sang famous children songs and also danced on the popular number ‘Bum Bum Bole’ to entertain the children. The children’s joy knew no bounds as they witnessed their teachers in action on the stage. The icing on the cake was the fashion show when all the bubbly and lovely educators walked on the ramp in their graceful and elegant attires. Children attended school not to study, but to enjoy and to get involved in numerous activities.  The children were enthralled to see their teacher dressed up as a funny clown character. To add on, the teachers were dressed up as children and presented a beautiful skit for their beloved students. Excitement and enjoyment was at its peak for our little kids when they received gifts and toffees as a token of love from the Headmistress. It was indeed a Children’s Day amidst of all fun, frolic and festivity spirit.

                                                        ENGLISH DECLAMATION

‘Safety starts with awareness, Awareness starts with you.’

Speech has the power to change the world and a good speaker is always able to captivate the audience with words. Keeping this view in mind, DPS organised ‘English Declamation’ activity for grade 4 and 5 students based on the theme ‘Safety measures’ to make students aware of safety rules to make their life safe and secure. Students threw a light on the points to cross the road only using zebra crossing, not to use phone while driving, not to take alcohol before driving, always maintain the prescribed speed, inevitability of helmets while driving two wheeler, follow the rules of traffic signals etc. All the participants exhibited their exceptional oratory skills, fluency in speeches and put in best of their efforts. It was a great pleasure to see young students speaking about safety measures, traffic rules and safe driving. This kind of activity broadens the horizons of intellect and critical thinking in students.

SHOW & TELL: MEANS OF TRANSPORT

‘Success is a journey; the best form of transport is happiness.’

Speech and language development is an integral part of a curriculum. To help students develop appropriate speaking skills as well as self-confidence, Delhi Public School conducted a ‘Show & Tell’ activity on 9th Nov 2017 for grade I-III students wherein they were supposed to speak on the topic ‘Means of Transport’. They carried a means of transport from their home like bicycle, boat, ship, aeroplane, helicopter etc. of different sizes and colours. They displayed their toys with pride and spoke with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. It was a fun-filled event with lots of information which not only helped them develop their vocabulary, speaking and presentation skills, but their social and listening skills were also enhanced.

                                                      Visit to Gurudwara

A Gurdwara is the place where Sikhs come together for congregational worship. They bow to the Guru Granth Sahib and touch the floor with their forehead while entering the Gurdwara. This not only shows their respect but also indicates that they submit themselves to the truths contained in the holy book.

Our Pre- primary learners went to visit the Gurdwara. It was a spiritual experience for them. They covered their heads as a part of paying reverence to the holy place. Children were involved in a small prayer and were delighted to receive the Kadah Prasad. The learners were explained the meaning of   ‘Langar’ and ‘ Seva’.

It was an enriching learning experience for our young impressionable minds on religious harmony and how to be Omnists.

An auspicious beginning – Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony

‘Coming together is beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success.’- Henry Ford

Bhumi Poojan is a Hindu ritual associated with the starting construction of a house, office or building. After it, the work can be started on any day as it itself is considered the initiation of edifice work. Delhi Public School, sector 102A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram, is all set to add up another episode in its successful journey. To mark the beginning of DPS senior wing’s erection at sector 103A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram, the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was performed on Thursday, 9th November, 2017 in the benign presence of  Pro Chairman, Mr. Yashpal Sawhney along with the Management and the Head Mistress.                                                              GURU NANAK JAYANTI CELEBRATION

‘Perfectly fulfilled and famous are those , in whose minds the supreme Lord God abides, by his grace, his devotees become famous and acclaimed.’

With the pious intention of seeking the blessings from almighty, We at DPS celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti on  3rd Nov. 2017. The event was solemnised with the rendition of the Sukhmani Saheb Path. The essence of sacred Kirtan and Path filled the air with spiritualism.   The hymns recited by the Raagis enhanced the faith one has in almighty. After the Shabad Singing, Ardaas was done followed by the Prasad distribution. The students were explained about Guru Nanak Dev, his preaching, his three principles, five evils to be shunned, the five Ks etc. The life incidents related to Guru Nanak Dev were also shared with them by showing few videos.   The management, the Headmistress, the entire staff along with the students were bestowed with the blessings of Guru Granth Saheb. Such initiatives help the students in building character, service before self and respect for our culture.
