                                    DPS STUDENTS SHINE IN INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION

The students of Delhi Public School ardently participated in an Inter-School Story Telling Competition organized by Bharat Ram Global International School, Gurugarm on 31st January, 2018. It was a moment for little ones to express and showcase their creative linguistic skills and talent by performing on stage.  It also enhanced awareness amongst students so that the compatibility with one another becomes their motto in life. Shivasya Bhalla of class KG secured 2nd Runner-up prize in ‘Show & Tell’ category whereas Yashvi Jain of class II A, bagged 2nd Runner-up prize for  ‘Story Telling  Competition’ and made school proud by bringing laurels to the school.  They were praised for their commendable achievement by the Headmistress as well as the educators.

    Medical Health Checkup

                                                  HEALTH CHECK-UP

                                         ‘The Greatest Wealth is Health.’

    Delhi Public School, Sector 102, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram organised a complete ‘Health Check-up Camp’ on 29th & 30th January to support its students’ good health and well-being. The camp had a panel of doctors to examine and assess students’ overall health. They updated the students’ health records with current height, weight, chest measurement and BMI. The dentist on the panel checked their teeth and provided necessary tips to maintain good oral hygiene. The optometrist gave primary vision care ranging from sight testing, correction and management of vision changes along with essential information on maintaining perfect vision. The general physician ensured overall wellness by checking their pulse rate, heartbeat, signs of congestion etc. The camp definitely helped in promoting and maintaining the health of students as the institution believes that health is the greatest gift of God and a healthy mind always resides in a healthy body.

      Republic Day Celebration, 2018

                                                      REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

                    ‘Let us hail the glory of the wonderful country India & its freedom fighters who made it all a victory for us.’

      DPS, sec.102 A, Dwarka Expressway celebrated 69th Republic Day on 25th January’18 with patriotic fervour. The school was appropriately decorated with handcrafted paperwork done by the students in tricolour which gave the premises a perfect ambience. The programme commenced with hoisting of National Flag by revered Director, Mr Nitin Sawhney, followed by the singing of National Anthem. The students invoked Almighty’s blessings and pray for progress and peace to prevail in the country. The Dipsonians pledged to guard ‘Unity in Diversity’, the essence of our constitution and respect its rich culture and heritage. Little angels from Kindergarten demonstrated their love for country with a lively song performance ‘We shall overcome’. Class V staged a skit based on the theme ‘Incredible India’ wherein they effectively showcased the need to preserve the monuments for generations to come and also to keep the motherland clean by contributing in ‘Swachch Bharat Campaign’. Students of grade IV added to the festivity with Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore’s song ‘Ekal Cholo Re’. Grade V aroused the feeling of patriotism in every heart with synchronised dance performances on ‘Satyagrah’ and ‘Chak De India’. The Headmistress then addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to be best in whatever they chose to do and bring glory to the nation.

        NATIONAL CYBER OLYMPIAD

             ‘Technology is not just a tool. It can give learners a voice that they may not have had before.’

        We belong to an age of technology and can't imagine a life devoid of electronic interference. Delhi Public School, Sector 102A, Dwarka Expressway is associated with Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) to conduct Olympiads in an endeavour to develop a greater competitive spirit, better assessment and exploration of potential among students. With this view, National Cyber Olympiad (NCO) was conducted on 24th January’18 to recognize the cyber expertise in young children and to encourage them to brush up their IT knowledge. Our students from Grade 1 to Grade 5 participated in the Olympiad with full zest wherein they were supposed to attempt objective type test of 60 minutes duration comprising Logical Reasoning, Computer & IT and Achievers section. These kinds of Olympiads identify young geniuses and provide them with a unique competitive platform where children can prove themselves.

          Creativity at its Best

          CREATIVITY AT ITS BEST

                  ‘Let us remember the golden Heritage of our country & feel proud to be an Indian.’

          DPS, Sec-102 Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram conducted an activity ‘Creativity at its best’ on the theme ‘Tricolour’ for grade I-V students to incite a sense of nationalism & patriotism in its true self. Our young skilled hands & their imaginative minds created beautiful crafts to uplift the spirit of freedom & reinforce the essence of national spirit. They enjoyed making crafts in Tricolour that symbolizes India. The children exhibited their creativity to the best of their abilities. The entire DPS Campus was radiating in vibrant Tricolour kites, Peacock with tricolour fans, Lotus, Flowers basket, flags etc. created by our young talents. The best craft pieces from each class were displayed at the school reception.

            BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATION
            ‘Spring is in the air, fresh blossom everywhere.’

            Basant Panchmi is an occasion which marks the onset of the ‘Spring Season’. It is also celebrated to worship Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of knowledge and wisdom. It is an important festival which is celebrated in the month of ‘Magh’ according to Hindu calendar. DPS Dwarka Expressway celebrated Basant Panchami on 22nd Jan’18 in school premises. On this day the tiny tots of kindergarten began the auspicious day with prayer and offered yellow coloured flowers to Maa Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Children were enlightened about the relevance of celebrating this festival, Saraswati Pooja and many more. They also learnt about the importance of showing respect to books as they are repositories of wisdom and knowledge.

              English Language Lab Workshop

                                                                        ENGLISH LANGUAGE LAB WORKSHOP

                                                     ‘Teaching language can be a fun and entertaining process.’

              Delhi Public School, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram conducted an English Language Lab workshop for the educators of its Primary wing. The school recognizes the importance of English language in today’s scenario and has therefore incorporated an English laboratory class in its curriculum to provide the learners with a strong platform for practical training in the language. It also takes necessary steps to upgrade skills of its educators repeatedly and to enable them to develop the language skills of the learners skillfully and efficiently. The aforesaid workshop helped the subject educators know the details of the language lessons installed in the Language lab software and plan its use for students’ benefit. They were told how to assign lessons after a practice session and assess the same after completion. The listening, speaking, reading and writing modules given therein were spoken about in detail. The workshop helped the teachers know how to bring variety in teaching - learning process instead of verbal centred teaching.

                Pep talk on safety measure

                                                              PEP TALK ON GENERAL SAFETY MEASURES 

                                             ‘At the end of the day, goals are simple: Safety and Security.’

                Delhi Public School, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurgaon conducted a ‘Pep Talk’ on ‘General Safety Measures’ which is the prime concern of the institution. The talk encouraged the students to give utmost importance to the measures discussed and stay safe from danger of any kind. The class educators told the students to know their parents mobile numbers by heart and be aware of their complete address in case of any kind of emergency. They were also advised to exercise extreme caution in case a stranger approaches and not eat anything offered or go anywhere along. Safety on road was another topic that was discussed at length wherein students were strictly told to follow all the traffic rules. They were also briefed about safety measures to follow while travelling in a vehicle and riding a bicycle. Safety while in school was also conversed about. They were reminded not to go out of the class alone. They were instructed to keep fellow students’ safety in mind too and not push or run while on the staircase or leave anything unattended on the floor in the classroom as someone might trip. Students were educated on how to handle emergencies. They were counseled to stay calm, assess the situation and see what needs to be done instead of panicking. Emergency numbers of Police, Fire brigade and Ambulance were also shared. The pep talk definitely illuminated the students and equipped them with necessary information.

                                                    'Joyfully we undertake our daily work'

                  DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram, accepting the proverb ‘All work and no play makes jack a dull boy’ , organized a fun-filled day out for all its educators at Pratapgarh farm. The journey to and fro witnessed the exuberant teachers participating in Antakshri with some cheerful singing. The village concept with umpteen recreational activities provided innumerable memorable moments for the entire staff. The team enjoyed camel cart ride, bullock cart ride, tractor ride and camel ride. They participated with the rural men and women folk and tried their hands on cooking on hearth, grinding grain, making buttermilk and on potter’s wheel. Attempting some ethnic games like Gilli Danda, Lattoo, Kanche and Gulel (slingshot) took many of the team members to their childhood days. Teachers also tested their aiming skills in Air Gun Shooting and Archery. Tug of war saw the strength of team work and lot of cheering. The day concluded with synchronized rhythmic steps of the energized team on the dance floor. The team had a joyous day together and enjoyed doing all the unique activities thoroughly.

                    MATH LAB WORKSHOP

                    ‘Learning is treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.’

                    NIIT group conducted a Math lab workshop on 11th January for Math educators aiming to throw light on GSP (Geometrical Sketch Pad) software which can be used to draw geometrical figures using their properties. This approach towards students –centric explorative learning takes Math hands on making the students learn the concepts in fun and playful manner. Math educators learnt about the methodologies and tools which can be used to improve mathematical teaching practices. It was a wonderful session and a great experience for the teachers.
