‘True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body; the two are ever united.’

To keep children engaged and regaled, a programme was organised by Nickelodeon, an American basic cable and satellite television network, on 31st Aug. 2017 in school premises. The programme started with the introduction of Nickelodeon and Sonic shows followed by multiple learning based games like  ‘Handshake’ based on Friendship and ‘Finding a Right card’  where in one participant’s eyes were covered with a piece of cloth and other participant was supposed to give direction to find the right card. In next activity, participants had to put candies in the mugs placed at distance and aiming to build team spirit in students, an activity ‘Solve the Puzzle’ was conducted. The programme came to an end with watching a video ‘Motu Patlu’ .All the students were delighted and enjoyed to the fullest spending time with their favourite cartoon characters and getting goodies as well.

                                         GANESH CHATURTHI & YELLOW DAY CELEBRATION

                               ‘God comes to you in many forms and blesses you in disguise.’

    Delhi Public School celebrated universally popular festival ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ with ‘Yellow day’ on 24th Aug. 2017 to recapitulate and reinforce the concept of yellow colour correlating with the essence of devotion. The day began with ‘Ganesh Stuti’ invoking the blessings to Mangalmoorti Ganesha, the God with 108 names. After that students gathered in celebration area where Lord Ganesha was ensconced and beautifully ornamented with flowers. The idol of Lord Ganesh was made with plain clay by the educators without using any chemical colour. All the children were not only dressed in yellow attire but also brought yellow flowers for worshipping. They all paid their greetings to God and took his blessings. Focussing on yellow colour theme, some craft activities were conducted in lively and vibrant environment. Students got very excited when they received a yellow head gear to take home. Over all the fun filled day turned out to be a significant one marked by devotion.

      Speed Skating Championship, 2017

                     DPS student shines in Speed Skating Championship 2017

                                             ‘Key to success is hard work and determination.’

      DPS students ardently participated in 1st Speed Skating Championship 2017 organized by Global Public School on 20th Aug. 2017 and competed with others in Ban track Event Race- 500 meters. They made school proud by bagging Gold Medal and Silver Medal and brought laurel to the school. They were applauded for their commendable achievement by the Head Mistress as well as the educators.

        FELICITATION CEREMONY

        Winning doesn’t always mean being first, winning means you’re doing better than you’ve done before.’

        Getting prize is the most important and memorable event in school. To honour the admirable performance of our tiny tots, the Felicitation Ceremony was held on 23rd Aug. 2017 at Delhi Public School. Winners were awarded with the certificates of excellence for the best performance in English Story Telling Competition. The Head Mistress congratulated the winners and motivated them to excel in academics and co-curricular activities with full zeal and fervor as they provide them opportunities to showcase their creativity.

          Inter House Spell-a-thon

                   INTER HOUSE SPELL-A-THON

                       ‘Spelling is important because it aids in reading. It helps cement the connection that is shared between sounds and letters.’

          An Inter-House Spell-a-thon Competition for grade III-V was organized on 18th August 2017 in the school auditorium. This competition gave students a platform to learn spellings in different ways to build their vocabulary,  to learn concepts  and develop the use of correct English.The preliminary level consisting of two rounds i.e Power Spell and Catch the Race were conducted in respective classes. With the winners of preliminary level, the final level comprising 4 rounds such as Rearrange the letters, Fill the missing letters, Guess & Clap and Rapid Fire,was conducted in the auditorium. From every House there were five participants. The first runner up of the competition was Mahatma Gandhi House while winner position was bagged by Swami Vivekanand House. Children participated earnestly in the competition and learnt the spellings in play way method. Their effort and initiative was appreciated by one and all.

                             INTER-HOUSE VOCABULARY QUIZ

                                                         ‘Vocabulary is a matter of word-building as well as word-using.’

            Time to time we organize events for all round development of our children This time we at DPS introduced ‘Inter House Vocabulary Quiz’ for grade I and II aiming to build their vocabulary. It is a very effective way through which our students can learn spellings, their meanings, their opposites etc. in a play way method and as it was an inter-house event , they also developed a competitive spirit. The preliminary level consisting of two rounds i.e Fill the Gap and Find My Opposite,  were conducted in respective classes. With the winners of preliminary level, the final level comprising 3 rounds such as Warm Up, Test Your Memory and Unscramble, was conducted in the auditorium. From every House there were five participants. The first runner up of the competition was Mother Teresa House while winner position was bagged by Swami Vivekaknand House. Children participated with full zeal and learnt new terms. The Head Mistress praised our little ones for their active participation.

              Janamashtami and Independence Day Celebration

                                                     INDEPENDENCE DAY AND JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATION

               Delhi Public School, Sector 102, Gurgaon amalgamated the celebrations of our 71st Indian Independence day and Janamashtmi,

              To commemorate the sovereignity of our nation, a grand celebration was held where in the students took pride in glorifying & celebrating the spirit of unity. The special day began with the hoisting of our Tri-Colour by our honourable Director Ms. Shikha Sawhney, followed by National Anthem, a tribute to the nation. Thereafter, some cultural programmes were held. Wherein tiny tots performed on some patriotic songs.

              Primary wing showed the notorious Leela’s of Kanha through their dance performance on the beats of “Gokul Dham”and “Kanhaa so ja re zaraa” followed by which enthralled all present there.

              A power packed  performance by our little martial artists of primary wing ignited all the souls with their energy & confidence.

              The Speech delivered by our Director enlightened the students and teachers about the pride we hold in being an Indian. She shared few of her experiences and students also participated and shared their thoughts. She also spoke about the reason behind the 8th avataar of God Vishnu.—Sri Krishna.

              Students shared their thoughts on why Krishna would steal “Makhan” and distribute to his friends.

              The celebration concluded with a mesmerizing group dance performance by all primary children. The entire school was reverberated with patriotic fervour and fanaticism.

              It was a fun filled event with the colours of tiranga all around.

                Crown Making Activity

                                          Crown Making & Craft Activities for Independence Day Decoration

                ‘In crafting there is no mistake, but just unique creations.’

                DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Gurgaon organized craft activities for primary classes on 9th August 2017 to mark the dual celebration of Krishna Janmashtami and 71st Independence Day of India where in children involved themselves with great zeal and zest showcasing their talent. They not only made eye-catching crowns for Lord Krishna to rejoice his birth ceremony but to add the colours of glory and bravery to the celebration, they also made pieces of craft in tri-colour which they flaunted on the walls of their activity zone with their class educators. It was a proud moment to watch the students spread the essence of tri-colour wrapped in emotions. Their efforts were highly appreciated by the Headmistress who cherished the ambience entirely decked with vibrant colours.

                                                    RAKHI MAKING (SNEH DOR MAKING)

                                 ‘The chaste bond of love between brothers and sisters is one of the deepest and purest of human emotions.

                  Raksha Bandhan is a very special occasion to celebrate this emotional bonding by a holy thread around the wrist which pulsates with sisterly love and sublime sentiments. To rejoice the virtuous bond of affection between a brother and a sister, Rakhi making activity was organized on 4th August, 2017 for the tender children of Pre-Primary and Primary classes. All the students enjoyed the activity to the fullest and participated with full fervor. They designed colourful  rakhis for their beloved and made the day a successful one. It was really a delightful sight to see the little hands collecting their emotions while making Rakhi with the peer group.
