Pre-Primary

We bring LEARNING to LIFE !!!

DPS – Pre-Primary wing is full of warmth and love whose mission is to provide a nurturing environment where children can grow and develop emotionally, cognitively and physically. Based on the knowledge that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important, each child is viewed as a seed that we nurture with the utmost care. Our carefully crafted program is designed to provide children with the early foundation and framework necessary for the transition to elementary school and beyond. Children learn to develop the literacy, numeracy, reasoning, and decision-making skills that form a foundation for school readiness.
In addition, they also learn socialization skills, build self-confidence and develop the preliminary skills to explore and experience their world independently.

Moral values and traditions are woven naturally through all of our disciplines so that they become both, a meaningful and treasured part of each child's experience. Values such as respect for others, kindness, being a constructive member of the community and responsible citizen of India are imbedded in each and every child.

Our educational approach is guided by our recognition and respect for the unique qualities of each child. We recognize that each child has his or her unique needs, interests and passions. Our children are viewed as collaborators: they are competent, curious, inquisitive, unique, and creative.

Each child who enters the school becomes a treasured member of our DPS Family.

A holistic and creative curriculum

Holistic Learning

  • Using best practices of Early Childhood Education Programme that focuses to build all domains of development
  • Age-Appropriate curriculum books
  • Focus on Early Literacy and Numeracy skills as per the NEP-2020 guidelines
  • Promoting the concept of ‘Learning by Doing’ through all curricular and co-curricular activities

Following NEP-2020
Foundation Stage Guidelines

  • Flexible Learning gives learners the freedom and choice to learn according to their aptitude, talents, interests and pace.
  • Multifaceted learning places equal focus on all facets of the learner's personality by giving equal weightage to socio-emotional domain as the cognitive domain. Taking cognisance of the challenges of life in 21st century, ECCE also focusses on developing the 21st century skills – the 5Cs: communication skills, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and character building. We hope that this would prepare learners to better adapt to the VUCA world of 21st century and lead a happy, balanced, and stress-free life.
  • Play-based learning makes learning a fun, pleasurable and collaborative experience. Reading, writing, and number operations are integrated with indoor and outdoor games, sketching, colouring, singing, and dancing. Children enjoy an active, fun-filled learning process.
  • Activity-based learning- ensures active engagement of learner with concepts and instructional materials. Learning is hands-on and experiential, providing learners the opportunity of learning through manipulation of materials and objects.
  • Discovery-based learning– encourages leaners to inquire into new concepts by building upon their prior knowledge and experiences. The learners learn to use their critical thinking, imagination, and creativity to establish connections between the ideas and construct new knowledge.

Child-Friendly Infrastructure

Montessori Laboratory

Maria Montessori (1870 - 1932), an Italian doctor, educationist, pedagogue and scientist created the Montessori Method.

A Montessori based laboratory places children in an exciting and stimulating environment where all activities are thoroughly developed to ideally suit the children’s needs.

This method encourages knowledge through activity, providing an easy learning environment. In the lab , children can choose the work that's attractive to them and well suit their interests, thus fostering their natural love for education and gradually establishing their motivation towards the future goals.

Children aren't held back or pushed forward consistent with the training rates of their peers. Each child has different abilities and interests and is allowed to figure on something until he/she masters it. This is important because every child is different, like some children are auditory learners, some are visual learners, some learn through body movement, and a few can use a mixture of several learning avenues.

Montessori method recognized that children deserve and wish to be treated with an equivalent respect with which we treat adults and at DPS we too belive that when a child’s interest is involved, any subject becomes fascinating. Each child’s individual interest would be explored throughout the Montessori laboratory.
